WHAT HAS LANDWATCH ACCOMPLISHED?
During the last two and a half years LandWatch has been busy. Here’s a partial list of accomplishments and activities. • Filed a lawsuit against the CCSD for violation of the California Environmental Quality Act in its ongoing quest for a desal plant and production of desal-related documents (see below for more). • Put the brakes on desalination and protected San Simeon State Beach with a successful appeal to the Coastal Commission that stopped the CCSD from installing desalination test wells on the beach. • Prevented the CCSD’s plan to put cell towers on the protected Fiscalini Ranch open space in a successful appeal to the Coastal Commission. • Took a stand against the Main Street lights installed by the County • Toured the water and wastewater plants with Brian Bode • Responded to the Cambria Area Plan Update • Submitted comments on the CCSD’s Fiscalini Ranch Draft Environmental Impact Report • Submitted comments on the CCSD’s Water Master Plan Draft Environmental Impact Report • Researched tax money received by the CSD from the County • Joined organizations statewide to oppose the toll road through San Onofre State Park
